FERNANDO PASQUINI

Teacher and Choreographer of contemporary dance

Artistic Director Hinterland Dance Theatre

The mission is to convey a sincere and personal way of communicating through the body, free from patterns and structures that limit or alter conscious self-control; technique conveys nothing if it is not in tune with one's soul.

His is a sensitive, targeted teaching that focuses on experience and the search for sincerity, always leaving the right space for the personality and uniqueness of each student and performer.

Dancer, choreographer, and teacher, Fernando Pasquini was born in Turin.

During his twenty-year career, he has danced and choreographed for Motionhouse (UK) by Kevin Finnan in: Chaser, Underground, Cascade, Scattered, Run; he was a dancer at Le Ballet Du Rhin (FR), where he danced in Maurice Bejart's show "Le Marteau Sans Maître" and "Coppelia" by Jo Strømgren; he dances and choreographs for "Compagnie L’Inattendù" (FR) by Gaelle Fratelli together with Pasquale Nocera and, under commission, choreographs and dances for the "International Art" Festival in Mulhouse. In Italy, he dances for Balletto di Milano contemporary project, Rock Opera with "Omaggio A Battisti" and for the company New Dance Concept from 1998 to 2006. Particularly noteworthy is his collaboration, since 2007, with Cie Twain Physical Dance Theatre by Loredana Parrella for which, as rehearsal director, he danced in the shows "Transgression", "Lei e Tancredi", "Profumo" and "Carmen Les Hommes".

He is the founder, artistic director, and choreographer of Hinterland Dance Theatre, a contemporary dance company active in Italy. The company was supported by Cie Twain Nuovi Autori from 2012 to 2017. The latest production Backing is from 2022. His experience as a dancer has always been parallel to that of a teacher, creating a balance that constantly enriched the two activities and has continued for 25 years.

The teaching profession immediately proved to be a true aptitude and a passion that still keeps him particularly connected to dance. He began working in various schools in Italy and beyond: Turin, Bologna, Reggio Calabria, Rome, Messina, Naples, Riva del Garda, Verona, London, (UK), Leamington Spa (UK), Manchester (UK), Leeds (UK), Edinburgh (UK), Cardiff (UK), Glasgow (UK) Warwick (UK), Brussels (B), Lausanne (CH), Mulhouse (F), Munich (D), Aarhus (DK), are just some of the cities where he has taught.

He currently collaborates with various schools in the area, both as an internal and guest teacher, including Balletto di Siena directed by Marco Batti and Specific Athletic and Artistic Training for Contemporary Dancers directed by Loris Petrillo.

Over the years, he has created and carried out intensive training projects for professional dancers and aspiring ones, on an annual basis.

In 2018, he obtained the National Diploma of Contemporary Dance Teacher AICS with level 4.

In 2021, he won the Winnter Dance Award by Verena Filippini.

In 2023, he curated the choreographic part of the show "Pentesilea" created in collaboration with director Matteo Tarasco.
